Alex is an independant sound engineer, music producer and active musician based in Berlin, Germany. He learned Piano as a first instrument for a couple of years being younger, but eventually figured that electric guitars were much more of interest for him and therefor changed to the strings. At present, he plays guitars in two bands.
Knowledge for fundamentals of sound, acoustics, audio engineering and studio technology he gained through studying media technology (B.Sc.) and later audio technology, graduating with a master of science (M.Sc.) in 2021. His path with music production basically started back in 2013 with a simple laptop, a first 16 channel audio interface, he had collected every penny for, and a bunch of simple microphones. That’s how he did his very first release, producing a debut demo tape for a band at the time. As time passed, he continued upgrading his setup, produced more and evolved and grew with it.
What drives him is the pure ambition towards music and its creation. So, mainly influenced and inspired by 70’s and 80’s rock & heavy metal, the aim is to create an authentic sound for your music and simply give it, what it needs to be taken seriously – speaking of character in music. However, that’s where Alex is coming from but does not limit himself with specific genres. Doing so, electro acoustically recorded instruments set the primary focus to create the impression of a balanced composition of real people, doing real music. Alex likes capturing sounds in an honest, organic and direct way, inspired by the golden age/era of recording. The same approach is applied when mixing. Very much being a fan of analog circuitry „the old fashion way“, his chosen workflow is preferably hybrid, working on an all analog 32 channel inline console in edition to the DAW. When it comes to mastering, things are getting in a rather surgical approach to finalize your production and make it sound awesome anywhere it will be played. If desired, final masters can be printed on analog tape for more warmth, glue and coherence in sound.
